Link Building Tips to Drive Traffic to Your Website
Link building is a very important part of getting higher rankings for your website and this still applies in 2012 and beyond, even after the recent Panda and Penguin updates. Here’s Matt Cutts from Google answering a question about link building tips.
Here are some tips for getting good organic links as well as more visitors to your site.
It is important to participate in the community (i.e. forums) for your particular product or niche by offering something of value, such as answering questions any members might have where you feel you have some information that can solve their problem. This adds value to the community and people are more likely to visit your site and give you a link.
Performing Original Research for Creating Great Content
Too many people are just ‘lifting’ content from other people’s blogs and simply re-writing them, but if you can add something of extra value such as your own experiences or tips you have discovered will help you achieve your uniqueness, bringing you more traffic.
Setting Up Newsletters
You can make your articles available via either a newsletter subscription service so visitors receive your articles in their inbox, or via a RSS feed.
Social Media for interaction.
Participating on Facebook or Twitter is a great way to interact with your audience, especially if they spend a great deal of their time on these social media platforms. Seek out groups interested in your product or service and like the community or forums mentioned above, provide valuable information to help that group.
Create and Maintain Your Blog
If you already have a site, you could build authority, by creating a blog about you or your company. This way people get to find out more about you as you become established by creating articles that provide useful information, and this will help in getting links. Also the article itself will contain keywords which can be found by the search engines and this will bring visitors to your site naturally.
Providing a Resource
If you have something you can offer that is unique to you or your company, this could be in the form of specialist software, an app, or even a product you have created that you are willing to give away for nothing, this will be a great way to generate links to your site.
Site Architecture
Make sure your site can be crawled by the search engine spiders, and that Google can see all the pages you wish then to see on your site. The best way to do this is by using a Sitemap plugin such as XML – Sitemap (if you are using WordPress).
Create Informative Videos
People love to be entertained as well as educated and video has been found to be the most effective way to do this. Speaking for myself I would much prefer to watch an educational training video then read through a whole load of text to learn how to do something.
