Personal Growth and Development
In order to become successful not only in Internet Marketing but in daily life, personal growth and development is the key to helping you achieve your goals whatever they may be. To get started with your personal development and growth it is important to ensure both your brain and body are in as healthy condition as possible.
Take a look at the following video titled Change Your Brain by Daniel Amen:
It has been discovered that innovation is a function of the brain, and is dependent on the physical health of your brain A healthy brain is vital for decision making, how you get on with others, your personal development in learning something new and how you perceive the world around you.
It’s a known fact that a healthy brain helps you to be happier, healthier, wealthier, wiser, more creative and more innovative, while unhealthy brains lead to sadness, sickness, being poorer, not as smart, and having a rigid and inflexible attitude.
Your brain is the most complex organ in the human body with over 100 billion nerve cells, each with over 10,000 individual connections. It consumes between 20 to 30% of the calories of your food intake. The rest of your body consumes only 2%. Therefore the quality of food intake directly affects your brain’s performance.
One amazing fact that has only recently been discovered is that obesity actually reduces both brain size and function. Other factors that can damage our brains are the more obvious including smoking, high blood pressure, lack of exercise, environmental toxins, general poor diet, diabetes, and negative thoughts that come into your mind. These thoughts are the seeds of both anxiety and depression.
So how can we improve our brain health?
Positive social connections – the people that surround you determines your longevity. Spend time around people with a positive attitude who are also health conscious, and you will live longer.
Always continue to learning something new – It is important to continue learning as this maintains and develops brain connectivity. As physical exercise develops the muscles in the body, challenging the mind with new subjects or concepts increases “mind power”, and keeps you mentally alert and focused.
Great diet is essential as you either consume nutrients that help you or toxins that can harm you. This is known to have a direct impact on your brain and how it is able to deal with day-to-day life.
Sleep is very important as lack of it reduces blood flow to the brain and reduces performance. We should get a minimum of 7 hours sleep each night. We’ve all had that experience of staying up late after an evening out, or because you wanted to finish off a project, and how you feel bad the next morning. If this is repeated often, then long term it will be detrimental to your brain’s health.
Getting enough exercise and being physical healthy aids better brain functionality. If you are working from home it is important to take breaks and get some exercise even if it’s just a walk in the park. I’ve found that by stepping away from the computer and getting out actually helps you get new ideas for a project or if you are struggling with a technical issue, you suddenly get one of those ‘light bulb’ moments where you arrive at a solution to your problem.
Acquiring a Healthy Anxiety – Too much anxiety is not good for you, however it is good to have a healthy concern about your well being, as mentioned above regarding nutrients, exercise and a good night’s sleep, but this must not get out of proportion so you become fixated with it. One way I can suggest to maintain a healthy balance is to organize a weekly plan for your exercise and meals and stick to it.
Meditation is a very powerful way to stimulate the mind, but it is not about chilling out and relaxing as is often perceived, rather it stimulates the front part of the brain which is responsible for our thoughts.
How to Avoid Depression
Feelings of gratitude: Too many of us take what we already have for granted. No matter how little of how much you have in terms of friends, family, personal success or monetary wealth, write 3 things you are grateful for everyday and after 3 weeks you’ll see a marked improvement in your overall happiness. While on the subject of happiness and positive thinking try to kill those stupid negative thoughts that come into your head from time to time. I know that’s easier said then done but ask yourself if it really is that bad? Don’t believe every bad thought you get, especially at night when those “demons” often raise their ugly heads. It will always seem better in the light of a new morning.
You might feel overwhelmed with all of the above and wonder how you might managed to take control of all of it. The best way would be to take stock of your strengths and weaknesses and work out what is affecting you most and start by tackling that element first, then work on the next and so on.
Taking these steps will ultimately help you with your personal growth and development and bring you fulfillment mentally, physically and as you will be better equipped to deal with day to day life, your business will also grow bringing you the wealth you seek.
